Our teacher made a Wonder Wall in our room and we have interesting questions displayed on our wall. We will take these questions to the library and we learn how to do basic research to find answers to these questions.

In the first few weeks of this Term we observed four caterpillars in our classroom and we were amazed at the process that they go through to turn into butterflies….a miracle for sure! We named our butterflies Belinda, Bella, Bobby and Ben!

Everybody in Room 1 knows what it means to be Sun Smart and we make sure that we wear our hats everyday. We studied the sun and its effect on us in Health. We have learned a special code with messages that help us to remember all the important factors to be Sun Smart!

We are also very excited to meet Harold in the Life Ed van this term. We will have two sessions in the van and Anna will teach us all about being special, working together and keeping our bodies clean and healthy.

Computer Time - We have a computer timetable that tells us who are the students to work on the computers for each day of the week. We really enjoy the Reading programs and Math programs because it helps us with our school work too. We also go to the Computer suite once per week where we learn all about computers and we get to do cool activities on the computer.

Listening Post - We love having a listening post in our classroom. We are allowed to listen to stories in our Reading Time. This also helps us to develop better concentration and it improves our ability to visualize stories.

Classroom Pet - Flintstone is our classroom pet. He is a Golden Bell Green frog and it is so much fun to watch him leaping up high in his tank to catch flies. Our teacher really likes frogs and she thinks God is so amazing to create tadpoles and let them change into frogs!

Phonics - There is a big focus in our classroom to learn all the letters and the sounds they make. We have so many activities in our classroom that help us to get really good at phonics and turn us into super readers.

Reading time - The reading groups get to do reading everyday with our teacher. We love our reading homework and we get special reading rewards after a specific number of days.

Travel Buddy - We have a cute fluffy creature in our Classroom. He is Mr Teddy Travelle and he loves to travel with students to different destinations in NZ and hopefully overseas too. He also loves to go on day trips! We read all about his experiences in his Travel Journal and we love looking at his photos. Our teacher developed this Travel Project to support the Social Science Curriculum and we absolutely love participating in it!

In Room 1 we are always trying our best in our schoolwork and we try really hard to be kind to each other, to have helping hands and good listening ears.
