Intermediate School - Room 11

We are having a lot a fun in Room 11 this term...

	We have a new teacher, Mrs. Wallace teaching our class on Thursdays and Fridays. She is originally from Canada and more recently from Te Atatu Peninsula and Rangeview Intermediate.
	In Social Science we are learning about the very early history of New Zealand and the events leading to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. We are in the process of creating a mural depicting this time in our history so … watch this space for photos of our mural!!
	In Technology we are learning about the mechanisms in different vehicles such as cars, bicycles, trains, etc. We will do some research and then create our own model. Mrs. Wallace allowed us to use the Lego set with different mechanisms, which was a lot of fun!
	Science is all about the preparation for our Science fair next term. We are learning about the scientific method, fair testing and variables.
	The new Y 6 teacher, Mr. Trollip, who is a great artist, is teaching us Art this term. He asked us to draw Mihi’s which shows our mountain, river, waka, family(iwi), parents and marae. This was just our introduction for the term. In Week 5 we will start working on our masks which is part of our study of Man this term.
	Instead of learning French this year, we have started to learn Mandarin. Mrs. Liu, a very experienced Chinese teacher, is teaching us and we already know a Mandarin song that we can sing.
